Class Grades Now Available
December 11, 2008 — I received the last graded homework assignments from the grader earlier this evening, and have now computed the overall class scores and grades. You can view your scores by clicking on the appropriate link below:
(Note: By university policy, grades below 0.7 do not count for credit, and are officially entered as 0.0.)
If you would like to pick up your final exam (or any other graded material you haven't yet received), you can do so by stopping by the Student Services office in C-36 Padelford (starting tomorrow afternoon).
This will be the last post on this website, and hence marks the conclusion of our course. It has been a pleasure teaching all of you, and I wish you all the best in your future careers, whatever they may be.
Enjoy your winter break!

Final Exams Now Graded
December 10, 2008 — I have now completed grading the final exams. Overall, the results were excellent, with an average score of 79.09 (out of 86) and a standard deviation of 6.91. Linked below are all the current scores I have on record. These include all homework and exam scores, with the exception of Homework #7, which has not yet been returned to me by the grader. Please check your scores to ensure their accuracy.
If you find any mistakes in your recorded scores, please email me immediately (by early Friday morning at the absolute latest). The grader is set to return your final homework assignments to me by early Friday morning, at which time I will immediately enter the scores and compute the overall class scores. I will then post the updated score sheets here for your reference, and formally submit the overall class grades to the university.
If you would like to estimate bounds for your overall class score in the meanwhile, you can simply calculate what your score would be in the two extreme situations: 1) you get a 0/30 on Homework #7; and 2) you get a 30/30 on Homework #7. When making those calculations, keep in mind the following:
- Your lowest homework score is dropped, and the average percentage on your remaining six assignments counts for 40% of your overall score.
- Each midterm counts for 15% of your overall score. Midterm 1 was out of 46 points, and Midterm 2 was out of 48 points.
- The final exam counts for 30% of your overall score.
As for estimating your course grade from your overall course score, you can use the current score cutoffs, which will not be adjusted further.
Also, solutions to the final exam are now available.
